Digital technology now runs through almost every part of teaching, training and assessment. Learners research on their phones, submit work through virtual learning environments, join sessions from home, collaborate in shared documents and expect instant feedback. For teachers, trainers, tutors and assessors, being confident and thoughtful in the use of digital tools is no longer a specialism for a few enthusiasts; it is part of everyday professional practice. Used well, technology can make learning more engaging, more accessible and more flexible. Used badly, it can add workload, distract learners and widen the gap between those who have good access and those who do not. This course takes an awareness and continuing-professional-development approach to using technology and digital tools across the education and training sector. It is deliberately not a manual for any single product, because platforms and apps change constantly. Instead it focuses on the enduring principles of good digital pedagogy: putting the learning outcome first, choosing the right tool for the job, designing engaging blended and online experiences, making learning inclusive and accessible, using generative artificial intelligence responsibly, and keeping learners safe with sound approaches to online safety and data protection. Throughout, well-known tools are mentioned only as familiar examples, not as recommendations or endorsements. You will explore practical models such as SAMR and TPACK at an awareness level, survey the modern digital toolkit, plan blended and online sessions, and work through the inclusion, safeguarding and data-protection considerations that responsible digital teaching demands. The course concludes with a 20-question multiple- choice assessment, which you must pass at 80% to earn your CPD certificate.
