This course raises awareness of slips, trips and falls (on the level and from height) and the simple, low-cost steps that prevent them. Slips and trips on the same level are the most common cause of workplace injuries in Great Britain — and the great majority are predictable and preventable.

The course covers what slips and trips, and falls, are, the law and responsibilities (HSWA 1974, the Management Regulations 1999 and the Workplace Regulations 1992), the common causes set out in HSE's slip potential model, and how to assess and control the risk through good housekeeping, effective cleaning, suitable floors and footwear, good lighting and prompt reporting.
