About this course.

Almost every organisation, in every sector, relies on projects to make change happen — launching a new product or service, moving to new premises, introducing a new IT system, running an event, improving a process or delivering work for a client. Yet a great many projects run late, overspend, or fail to deliver what was actually needed. The difference between a project that succeeds and one that drifts is rarely luck; far more often it is the quality of the project management behind it.

This course gives a practical, awareness-level introduction to project management. It explains what a project actually is and how it differs from ordinary day-to-day work, why a disciplined approach matters, and the key constraints — scope, time, cost and quality — that every project must balance. It walks through the project lifecycle from initiation to closure, introduces the main methodologies including waterfall, Agile, PRINCE2 and the APM Body of Knowledge, then gets practical about planning, delivering and controlling work through risk and issue management, quality, communication, change control and progress monitoring.
