Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessor Awareness

About this course.

This is an assessor-level course. It goes beyond basic DSE awareness to give you the practical competence to plan, carry out, record and follow up Display Screen Equipment (DSE) workstation assessments for your organisation. Poorly set-up workstations and prolonged screen use are a leading cause of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and contribute to eye strain, fatigue and stress. The good news is that almost all of these problems are preventable, and a competent assessor is central to preventing them. You will study the legal framework in detail, learn exactly who counts as a 'DSE user' under the Regulations, and work through a structured, repeatable assessment method built around the HSE workstation checklist.

The course includes a full worked assessment walkthrough, ready-to-use checklists and reference tables, guidance on home and hybrid working, and clear rules on what you can resolve yourself and when you must escalate. By the end you should be able to act as a confident, defensible DSE assessor. The course is structured into eight learning sections followed by a 20-question assessment. You should allow approximately three hours to complete the material and the assessment. A pass mark of 80% is required to earn the CPD certificate.
